| The group of gwiffons and Archons is surrounded by several heavily wounded dwagons. A green dwagon in the foreground has a gash in its side through which several ribs are visible; another green dwagon in the background is missing a front leg. | [edit] |
|
Jaclyn: Oh why even explain, Warlord? Why not just order us on? | [edit] |
| Jillian frowns unhappily as she faces Jaclyn. In the background, the blonde Archon has her hands on her hips and looks annoyed. | [edit] |
|
Jaclyn: The spell compels you to seek a reason. Blonde Archon: You shouldn't be telling her this. They're not paying for magic security; that's separate. | [edit] |
| Jaclyn extends an arm backwards to point at a wounded red dwagon, several of its teeth exposed by a gash in its upper lip. One of the three uncroaked warlords is riding the dwagon. | [edit] |
|
Jaclyn: Charlie's Rule #19: Charlie's rules need to be bent sometimes. C'mon, Warlord. Look at how weak they are. Let's wipe 'em out. | [edit] |
| Jillian holds her hands out in front of her and looks very unsure of herself. Meanwhile, the blonde Archon irately addresses Jaclyn. A pink dwagon with a large wound in its belly looms overhead. | [edit] |
| Jillian Zamussels: I can't. | [edit] |
| Jaclyn is right alongside the uncroaked warlord, who we now see is Manpower the Temporary. She waves toward him with one hand while extending the other to stick a finger in Manpower's ear. Manpower does not react. | [edit] |
|
Jaclyn: These... are her creatures. Without will. Controlled by the Croakamancer. Is this what you want to be? | [edit] |
| Jillian's expression is anxious and troubled. | [edit] |
|
Jillian Zamussels: You just... You don't understand. How could you? | [edit] |
| Jaclyn has turned away from Manpower to stare intently at Jillian. Manpower's head slumps away from Jaclyn, and he drools on himself. | [edit] |
| Jaclyn: What don't I understand? | [edit] |
| Jillian's face is contorted with stress as she blurts out her reply. | [edit] |
| Jillian Zamussels: I... like it. | [edit] |
| Jillian and Jaclyn are seen from above, framed between two of the dwagons. Jillian is slumped forward listlessly, her head almost against the neck of her gwiffon. | [edit] |
|
Jaclyn: So turn. Join these stiffs. Jillian Zamussels: I can't. Jaclyn: Then quit the fight. Jillian Zamussels: I can't! Jaclyn: Then what are you going to do, Warlord? Jillian Zamussels: I don't know. | [edit] |
| Jillian continues to sit slumped forward on her gwiffon as the three Archons stare at her. Jaclyn has her arms crossed and projects an air of firmness; the other two are more neutral observers. A pink dwagon hovers behind and above them. | [edit] |
| (There is no text in this panel.) | [edit] |
| Jaclyn extends an arm toward Jillian as she speaks. Neither Jillian nor the other two Archons show any reaction. The pink dwagon continues to hover nearby. | [edit] |
| Jaclyn: Would you like to call a friend?[1] | [edit] |
[edit] Notes
- ^ On the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, phoning a friend is one of the lifelines available to contestants when they're unable to choose the correct answer. Jaclyn's dialog echos the standard phrasing when the lifeline is suggested.
